Both a bit on the level, but my easily fixed with a heavy touch from Tabasco. Haddock sandwich for my lady. Suitable for a sandwich large Schellfische. Enough to need a homebox. Fish and chips for me, with salad bar and cup of chowder. From a good start,... two portions of fish, two portions of Tater sauce and painted vinegar. Right! Chips were standard varieties Pommes, but no disturbing, two generous portions of thick crispy broken fish was the star of this show. Discover two active servings almost not enough! The salad bar was in stock, diverse and clean. Chowder (Note not chowdah) has been visited from NY. Almost broth, not rich and creamy, and a little spicy on the shells. Waiting staff was pleasant, attentive, without being overlaid. Good work, Gabe.
Great service super and the lobster was just delicious. I don't often see salad bars and their are very good, all very fresh. They placed us on a window table, although it was cloudy, the view was very beautiful. We drove from Connecticut to my wife's birthday. It made a long day, but worth every dollar, can't say penny anymore.
Based on reviews, we tried Warren's Lobster House while visiting the outlet mall. From the outside it looks exactly as it is: an honest survivor of the 40s. The restaurant that hasn't changed much in 70 years. And it doesn't have to. Inside is all wood cladding and Formica, comfortable dining room chairs and a super relaxed atmosphere. The menu is huge, but everything you expect is covered. We had Clam Chowder, which was creamy and rich with large pieces of shell. The salad bar they boast about was good with cold, crunchy vegetables and a ton of pasta salads, potato salad, all the salad you can think about, and beautiful cold dresses. I don't think I'd pay the $15 for the salad bar if I would also plan to have actual food, but it's worth if you want two or three plates of good salads! The salad bar is included here with many meals. This brings me to seafood: huge portions of tasteful and perfectly boiled seafood. My wife had a double-stuffed lobster roll that looked like she had more than a pound of lobster meat. My daughter had lobster Mac and cheese that had tasty and humongous pieces of dick and claw meat mixed. I had the Captain Warren Platter who had fried busty shells, scallops, squids, shrimps and lobsters. They were all perfectly cooked, and I still have two meals from my left! Don't pass this place. If you are looking for nostalgia and honest, good food, check it out. Prices are also more than reasonable.
Here's the old school. Only four stars because the ambience gives the mood of your grandmother's living room, which has not been updated since the 1960s. The food was amazing. Loved the salad bar and pumpkin bread. The lobster was my favorite in Maine warm, rich and buttery. The service was warm and attentive.
I loved everything; everything was well worth the price=great value. The view was a lot more picturesque than my photo can convey. I'll be honest, the salad bar would've been enough to leave us both satisfied, and that's coming from a man who doesn't consider it a meal if there's no meat. The coleslaw Herr was some of the best I've ever tasted, and definitely the best I've had while here in Maine so far. My wife ordered three baked tails, and she wouldn't stop raving about the Ritz cracker crumble on to baked on top. So, of course, that's been added to my honey-do list of recipes. I ordered the tail and claws, and she was right about the Ritz by the way. The claws were my favorite part though. They were easy enough to remove from the claws without the cracker. For some context, I have very large hands, and the claw was nearly 3/4 the size of my hand. If we were locals, then I'd make the salad bar a part of my weekly rotation, and through some lobster in every month or so.
