Shanti Old Town - Ko Lanta

Hardly to find it, but we did it and never regret it. It is a really beautiful place where you can enjoy home made ice cream / sorbet from an Italian. They sit on a small stage and reach from the small fishing hut (like the houses on the left) on pillows. The host is beautiful. The prices are slightly above average, but fair.

Looking for a place to eat, with a relaxed atmosphere and great views?! Shanti is for you! I was a little tired and hungry and the owner, a French guy, getting me with a big smile and has a plate with cheese (only bride, because I don't eat parmigiano and blue cheese), a glass of white wine, good music, great view... What else? I'll try his homemade ice cream the next day.

Great homemade ice cream. Fun staff. The owner is very talky and always lets me laugh. Try the chocolates and hazelnuts!

Fantastic meal in the Shanti Old Town. I had the pasta salad and the meal was delicious, in a large portion with lots of parmesan cheese. The staff was attentive and I stayed awhile reading and finally on ice. Nice place to enjoy a fresh light meal in the old town. Edit (8 months later when I came back to Lanta! Shanti Old Town is one of my favorite restaurants on Koh Lanta, if not in general. It is never one thing: it is the ambience, the staff, the food, the decor, the view. I love staying in the old town and Shanti is a great reason for it. Of course, the ice is fantastic, but it is the cocktails and daily, usually and hopefully pasta, dishes that always catch my attention and hold me back. The Shanti Garden Cocktail is a must. Fe Fe Fe sources the ingredients locally and turns them into the most inventive dishes, with Italian and French inspiration. Both he and Colleen are so sweet and welcoming. I can't say enough good things. I can't wait until my next trip to Koh Lanta so I can eat and drink again:

Wow. Lovely atmosphere. Don’t miss it if you’re in Old Town. Revisited this awesome place for the second year. The beauty of being a bit off is that there is a calmness no place in old town will deliver. This year we enjoyed the food bowl as well, not just the ice cream.
