We were driving from Des Moines to Minneapolis and decided to hop off the beaten path to Lake Mills. A great little town! We each had a side salad with thousand island dressing. Typical diner-style salad of romaine lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, onions. Fine, but nothing to write home about. Then we split the burger and fires. We went with the burger on a pretzel bun (I always think they will be better than a regular bun, but should just get the regular. Nothing wrong with this one--nice and fresh, just never what I think they will be. . Anyway, the burger was fantastic and the fries were crispy, not greasy, and a generous portion. The menu was quite diverse and we will make this trip again to check out more options. It's worth a stop just to be in the old bank building and to take a walk down Main Street!
Second visit, once for lunch, and this time for supper. It is a great atmosphere with old tile, signs, wood floor, and full bar. The tables are a mix of high and low top so a variety of choices for seating. The flat iron steak and butterfly shrimp dinner was delicious. The nachos could feed four people easily. The spicy chicken pieces and the spicy sour cream made the nachos a step up from the normal cheese on chips presentation. We enjoyed our evening, tried a new Cabernet, and will return again when we are in the area.
Menu is so full of good looking choices it was hard to decide. We ordered fish tacos, bacon wrapped shrimp and nachos. Food came out quickly. Lots of food and great tasting! Strongly recommend others to try it!
We love Teluwut, it's one of my favorite places to eat. Food is great and the servers are awesome. We do a lot of hunting in the area and make it a point to hunt Saturday so we can eat lunch there.
I ordered the smoked Iowa chop, thick. Juicy and 12 oz. for &14.95. Got a 1/2 inch thick , dry and 8 oz. chop for $15.99 . Goodbye!
