Johnson's Fish Shrimp - Lake Station

Overall I'm comparing this food to other establishments and my personal cooking and I wasn't impressed with it. We actually passed this restaurant while traveling to Joliet and decided to give it a try and it wasn't a good choice. The customer service was good and the environment was good but the food is where they didn't meet expectations. It definitely lacked flavor and I don't even think it was fully cooked. We got the catfish filets and fries and we ended up wasting about half of it. I gave the food three stars because of the quality of the fries the fish was a one or two star. No I don't plan to go back to give it another try and if we weren't driving and eating I would've just asked for a meal replacement. I wish I would have read the other reviews. Got the shrimp and calamari. The shrimp was so dry and overcooked. It was hard to chew. Calamari was also dry and reminded me of shoelaces. Very sad that Luke turned a once Icon of the area into a very sad experience. UPDATE 9-2-2023. I called them before I went and asked them if they were using the same shrimp as the ORIGINAL owners. She said they had RETURNED to the company that provided the deveined, no tails and the freshness that the shrimp snaps with freshness. She said they have to go to Chicago to get these shrimp because the company does not deliver. I took a trip to Johnsons and YES THESE ARE THE REAL DEAL! Thank you so much for listening to your customers! The New owners are NOT using the quality Shrimp. The Shrimp we purchased was NOT DEVEINED, and you know what that means (shrimp poop) Fresh shrimp will crunch when you bite into it, this shrimp was dry chewy and smaller. Oil even dripped out after I took a bite of the breaded shrimp. So sad, because the SHRIMP was their Signature dish. The Original owners served the Large, NO Tail, NO Veins and Fresh.
