Being a Lancaster native and having the experience that me and my family have with gus's I must say that the captain is so dearly missed. Good by captain gus. New stupid hours, the food fell off, and nobody answers the phone. Must be nice to destroy your father's legacy.Farwell to a great mom and pop shop.
Captain Gus’s is a breath of fresh air in a fast casual dining scene stuffed to the brim with unremarkable chain restaurants. My cheesesteak was easily the best I’ve had since moving to Lancaster 10 years ago and the staff was friendly and nice. Much like Route 66 Restaurant on the other side of town, the rundown interior may deter the uninitiated but it’s their loss.
I was really intrigued the sign , (best cheesteaks in town) I should've known better, the small sandwich was damn near in a hot dog roll it was a bit un-sanitary inside...I've been all through Philly tried some sandwiches that'll make u bite your lip with joy...this place was a big let down.
Very popular local sub shop... it isn't as energetic as it used to be since Capt. Gus passed away, but the food is still as tasty. I love there cheeseburger sub and cheese steak... they really fill the sub roll with meat from end to end.
