Southern Inn - Lexington

My wife and I don't often eat out, especially at high-end restaurants like the Southern Inn. However, we decided to splurge for our 53rd wedding anniversary. We were hoping for a perfect experience, but unfortunately, it fell short. We tried using the table selection option on OpenTable, but it wasn't working, so we ended up at a table near the bar. The noise level escalated throughout the evening, making it hard to have a quiet meal. This may have contributed to my salmon special being undercooked - I had requested it to be well-done. I should have sent it back, but I didn't want to embarrass my wife, so I only ate part of it. My wife enjoyed her fried green tomato appetizer, but the calamari was just average. Overall, I would recommend the Southern Inn with some reservations, but we will probably choose a different upscale restaurant for our next special occasion.

We unexpectedly added an extra person to our party which gave the staff an unusual table configuration at a busy time. They couldn’t have been nicer. The entrees were all quite tasty and service was prompt and friendly. Recommending the duck breast

We had the fried chicken, burger and new york strip all were great. Highly recommend fried chicken. We had calmari for appetizers which was no good , little flavor and soggy

The food was delicious. We were looking for something special while visiting Lexington. This is a restaurant on Main Street in the historic town. You can dress up, but it’s not required. All of the food was great, but the desserts were amazing. Very welcoming staff, too. Highly recommend!

Southern Inn is my favorite restaurant in Lexington. We come here for special occasions of all kinds. We come for the food, the service, the ambiance. The wait staff, in our experience, is unfailingly helpful.
