No reservation was needed for lunch on Saturday and we were offered a choice of tables. The waiter spoke fluent English and French. The only thing lacking was better heat in the rooms as it was cold and we kept our coats for half the meal. Foie Gras was a generous slab with yellow fat atop, served with toast points and a few greens. The Magret was a large, meaty portion cooked rare and very tender. The zucchini gratin next to it was tasteless and mushy but the potato side dish was nice. The waterzoi, a regional dish, was the highlight for me but the broth was too thin and the three giant prawn that topped it had a distinctly fishy smell that preceded the dish to the table. The fish and carrots in the dish were good despite the prawns. Café gourmand was a delightful tasting of several creamy desserts and the Pommes Feuillete was beautifully plated and delicious. Not an inexpensive lunch but well worth it and certainly the best meal we had during our stay in town. Certainly worth a repeat visit when possible.
