Enjoyed a potato hash with extra potatoes instead of egg and a very good strawberry mocktail. The mimosa selection is robust but a mocktail is sometimes better at 9 AM. There are other restaurants with more vegan options but this is a great option for something a little fancy. It was wonderful to eat at a nice restaurant while living in a not-so-nice place a few hours north.
The willingness ability to make vegetarian menu items vegan is hardly a win when you leave hungry with a lofty bill. It's no secret I'm a big eater; I just wish I'd've remembered the French are notorious for small portion sizes. Doesn't help the veg-friendly add-ons are all vegetables $4 for broccoli or ½ avocado or $5 for grilled vegetables). There's a vegan burger I've gotten before, with fries, because I'm too frugal to justify spending an extra $4 to sub fruit, but I usually want something a little healthier. My customized salad was arguably healthier, but there wasn't a lot to it my bill wasn't much smaller. In sum, from the linen napkins tablecloths to the rich, elegant desserts described offered, by all appearances, this place is fancy. Sadly, it isn't for me, as I fancy food that is vegan, of substance, doesn't cost me an arm a leg.
The Caribbean Salad is so good! Leave off the hb egg give away the cheese crisp to make it vegan. Skip the dressing, don’t need it cuz well the mango salsa!
There are plenty of vegetarian options, but it’s difficult to find good vegan options.
We dined at the Green Gateau in Lincoln on Sunday, 7/16/17, for brunch, and on Wednesday, 7/17/17 for lunch. Vegetarians will have many options here. There are fewer vegan dishes, but there is a vegan salad, a vegan sandwich, veggie burgers, and vegetable pasta (omit the cheese topping). The Sunday brunch was especially good, and there is an extensive beer and wine list. Our table enjoyed fruit crepes, delicious beignets, quiche and a unique blue cheese potato salad. The namesake dish is Green Gateau cake, a chocolate sponge and mousse cake with pistachio icing, decorated in Monet colors and topped with a lily. The chef seems creative, so don 't hesitate to request modifications.
