Contribuir a la retroalimentaciónIt's appropriate, but I always expect it to be better than it is. Although the hummus tastes fresh, it's hardly what a page calls. The chicken is Blande, the store bought Pita comes in a bag, and the garlic larvae and the picky pink stuff never attracted me.
This place is the real deal! Absolutely some of the freshest most flavorful food I've tasted. We got a meal deal with a whole roast chicken, two sides and pita bread. The chicken is fall off the bone, the tabouleh was fresh, colorful and well balanced, the hummus was almost whipped it was so smooth and delicious. The meal is served with the crowning glory, vinegar soaked turnips (pickled turnips) and garlic butter. This butter is HEAVENLY, we ended up going through about ten of the small little cups they serve it in. It's melt in your mouth garlic deliciousness. Highly recommended and a new favorite of ours.
Steak/chicken combo kabob plate w/ hummus, salad, pita, rice, grilled tomato and onions from @zankouchicken 5 stars! I have been a big fan of Zankou Chicken since arriving in LA and a friend introduced me to them. This particular location (Sunset near Fairfax) makes the best kabobs. So much good stuff on these delicious plates. I could really eat this daily. I was happy to see that they have switched to less destructive packaging. They used to use the styrofoam containers. Another element to Zankou that always fascinates me is they have one heck of a bizarre company story. I won't do it justice in a post, but it is local lore that is worth looking up if you're into that kind of stuff. But fair warning, it is a sad and dark story.
Good location. Parking lot can be a bit tight and tricky to navigate but plenty of street parking. Better to order ahead if you get kebobs as they take about 15 minutes to cook (other items are ready in just a few minutes). Humus very good, chicken is very juice and tender. Be sure to get garlic sauce on the side, it's a must have. Recommended.
Ok ok I admit that I went here for its connection to an infamous murder as well as because it's an LA institution. The garlic sauce on mine was as good as promised but I thought we'd be getting extra containers of the delicious stuff to put in everything! Definitely not the best middle-Eastern type wrap I've had but I can see why it's an institution and the garlic sauce was certainly delicious.
