We both thought it was just okay, we've had better. If you like hot stuff try their spicy bbq, that was really good!
First time trying this place. The potatoes were extremely tough on the outside, stale, and barely even warm. The brisket on top was good, it had a nice flavor, great texture and a pretty good amount. Skimmed on the toppings (sour cream and cheese). I couldn't even get much of the potato out of the skin. The bbq sauce had a really strong flavor of vinegar and was pretty thin. Things like that are personal taste(not mine). I could not eat the potato. The brisket was the only thing that was good. So maybe just the brisket/meats are worth going for. I'm not sure about anything else as that is all we tried.
The service was good. It looked like the owner/manager was putting in a lot of work. I saw him mopping the floors and doing other stuff and he still made sure to come by our table to make sure we were taken care of. The building is a nice indoor/outdoor establishment that is nice to sit in and feel like you are on a patio. The food needs work. The burnt ends were doused in pepper, tough to chew and an item I wished I didn't order in retrospect. The ribs were chewy as well. The brisket was ok but a bit on the bland side. The highlight of the meal was the potato salad. It had a creamy and sweet taste with very good texture. I give this place 3 stars because I think they have the potential to be very good and I will be going there again to see if I just stopped by on an off day. If it wasn't an off day, I still think with more attention to the process they could do very well. I am rooting for this place because I think they are on the verge of being a very good BBQ establishment.
We tried two different three meat plates. Our favorite was the burnt ends. The chicken was juicy and everything was tasty. We tried brisket, sausage, pulled pork, chicken, ribs and burnt ends. Sausage Mac and cheese was our favorite side with the Big D pinto beans coming in a close second.
Great experience eating at Big D BBQ this evening. We were visiting from out of town and decided to give it a try. We?re so glad we did! Friendly staff. Great service. Very family friendly environment. We ordered family style meal with brisket, Mac n cheese, green beans, and bbq beans. Would love for this place to stay in business so give it a try if you?re in Dallas! Definitely worth visiting.
