Just what I was looking for. A plate of tender meat and potatoes smothered in rich savory gravy. Hearty chicken and dumplings soup. A good neighborhood dive bar. Update 10/27/2017 Excellent all you can eat perch fish fry. Update 03/08/2018 Excellent meatloaf too. Update 01/09/2019 Meatloaf is so good I'm bumping up to 5 stars.

We went here to get some food because it was late. Neither myself or my husband are big drinkers, so we didn't have any drinks. As it was around 10:30 at night, only their fryers were open, which was fine and totally understandable. We sat at the bar and just ordered some fries and chicken tenders. The bartenders were very friendly, one we learned the name of, Nancy, and the other we had not. The price was great and the amount of food was also great! Both my husband and I shared and it was the perfect amount. We didn't feel unwelcome just because we weren't drinking. We have since come back and had just as pleasant visits. Looking forward to trying what else Paul's has! I have had their fish fry and a burger a few years back, which were also very good. At the time, which it might be different now, but they had an all you can eat option for their fish fry and they have the classic salad bar to go with... What's not to love... Check this place out. It's nice and local, friendly, etc.

Friday fish fry experience: The all-you-can-eat option is reasonably priced. The fried cod had a thin batter and was a bit tough to cut, but the walleye was much better. It might have just been an off piece of cod. I'm willing to give it another shot. The cocktails were affordably priced as well.

Paul's consistently serves the best food and drinks. The all-you-can-eat fish fry on Friday nights is outstanding every time. Thank you, Mike.

Fantastic bar! Was greeted with charisma and kindness right when I walked in the door. Drinks and food come out fast and perfect. Employees are attentive, genuine, and social. Patrons are just looking for a good time, also. Perfect place to stop at if I?m Madison for good vibes. Thank you to the Paul?s staff for making my day!
