The variety of rolls were my entrée and I was pleased with my choices. This is a good neighborhood sushi restaurant. You will not be disappointed in the rolls. The decor and tables are comfortable and there is plenty of free parking. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat at Suhiro, but if I was in the neighborhood, this spot should be on your short list of sushi bars. Salute!
The food was excellent, and the staff were very friendly. However, tonight we faced an issue with our meal taking longer to arrive than usual. Unfortunately, the dishes that were supposed to be hot came out cold, as if they had been sitting out for 5 to 10 minutes. Our server only checked on us twice, so we didn't get any refills on water or drinks. While the food is delicious and the people are wonderful, it seems they struggle with maintaining a good pace. On a positive note, the gentlemen making the sushi rolls were cheerful and really enhanced the experience. We will definitely return.
Not a good place for lunch. Very slow service. Food was on par with Panda Express. I put in a pick up order during my lunch break and arrived before I thought it would be done, so I was prepared to wait. But I Ended up waiting over a half hour. Not only did it take long to make, but The girl in charge of bringing out my food wasn't paying attention so it sat there minutes after it was done. I had to rush back to work. I got the Vegetable Sukiyaki Lunch and was hoping it would at least taste good making it all worth it. It didn't. Everything was soggy. The vegetables were cooked to a mushy consistency. The tofu had the texture of baby food, there were only 2 pieces in whole the soup. The rice was soft and formless. The broth was flavorless. It came with a side salad that was literally just a handful of lettuce, they gave you two drops of salad dressing with it. The whole experience was disappointing. There's a Zao's next door that I thought about going to, but I wanted something a little fancier and instead I got baby food. Wouldn't eat there again. Would not recommend it, especially if you're in a hurry. The staff will dilly dally while your food over cooks to mush.
There's room for all kinds of Japanese food in this valley. From the painstakingly thought-out and meticulously-prepared, to the more everyday kind of meal. The same goes for burgers. The same goes for pizza. And so on. What we have here is probably much closer to the latter--an easy, come-as-you-are kind of Japanese restaurant with a wide appeal for sushi and broad stroke menu. That's great. There's room for it, and if you know that going in ahead of time, you're not going to be disappointed. The dining room is much bigger than you think. It could use a refresh, but a hot, sexy atmosphere isn't exactly what they're going for. It matches their approach. Choose from a decent sized selection of sushi rolls and several kitchen dishes. There's nothing to exotic, but it's all accessible. I went with one of the most uncommonly served dishes in a tekka don. This rice bowl is served with several thinly sliced pieces of tuna on top of rice, and a little bit of sauce. Unless you've had a donburi, it's a little hard to describe, but they have a few varieties on the menu to try. Our service was super sweet. Kind folks who were happy to serve us even though we got there with less than 30 minutes to go before closing time. I think Suehiro is one of those places that does great with the neighbors, where they may not be making a special trip to come in, but just having it nearby and using it as an option is probably not a bad idea.
First, let’s talk about the service. We were seated immediately, and our server was fantastic—very friendly and attentive. Next, the ambiance. The design of the restaurant is impressive! I felt like I should be kneeling at the table like a samurai. We each ordered a Bento box. I chose the shrimp tempura and teriyaki chicken, which came with tori karaage that tasted like little chicken nuggets. The tori karaage was decent, but since I had plenty of chicken already, I wish I had opted for the sashimi instead. I did get to taste my friend's sashimi, and it was fresh and of excellent quality. Overall, the food was delicious and arrived quickly. I ended up feeling really full! I'm curious about how busy this place gets and whether a more prominent location might attract more customers, as they certainly deserve it. I’ll definitely return when I have some extra cash to spend.
