Most of the clams were the tougher thick muscle portion of the clam. I took one bite and nothing more. We took the Pepe’s Clam Pie home and threw it out. That pie was once the talk of the town but that was when it was Pepe’s and used fresh shucked clams. Did an investment group buy Pepe’s? Not going back. Tomato pie was good the house salad was delicious and service was excellent.
Clam pizza at Pepe’s is great, however the fresh tomato pie can’t be beat, extra garlic is a must!! Delish!
Had a White Clam pizza and a Margherita pizza. I enjoyed the White Clam, but it wasn't to my wife's taste as it's a pretty fishy pizza. We both thought the Margherita was great, though. It was cool to see that the building hasn't changed much since the restaurant was first open, and the classic pizza parlor interior was really cool. The service was good, but not noteworthy. The place was pretty crowded, so we actually waited longer for the pizza than we did when waiting in line to get inside the restaurant. Overall, a good experience. It would be good to try a few different pizzas.
Amazing white clam pizza New Haven style! I come here every time I come to New Haven. It’s a classic for a reason.
