The Delachaise - New Orleans

I visited this restaurant last week and left feeling disappointed. They offered a great selection of wine and beer. I had dined here before, but this time the $12 truffle fries were warm, soggy, and hardly had any truffle flavor. Despite being fried in goose fat, they were not crispy at all. I also tried the Cuban twice-cooked pork, which was dry and overcooked, served over room temperature fried yucca. It was not a pleasant experience. I hope it was just an off night, but I cannot recommend this place based on my recent visit.

My wife enjoyed this place more than I did. The food was excellent and the man at the bar, who happened to be the owner, was very knowledgeable about the wine and cheese on the cheese plate. It may seem small, but many places have staff who are not well-informed about their offerings. If you're looking for a great spot to enjoy a glass of wine or something from their well-stocked bar, The Delachaise is perfect. It is a small building but has plenty of seating both inside and outside.

There is a wide variety of wine options at this restaurant. The prices are a bit high, but my choice of an Austrian wine was very enjoyable. The frog legs lived up to their reputation and were delicious. The pommes frites were a bit of a mixed bag for me. The goose fat added a great flavor, but the texture wasn't as crispy as I would have liked. I'm not a fan of vinegar, so I wasn't a fan of the aioli sauce, but I was pleasantly surprised by the delicious peanut satay sauce.

I visited this restaurant late at night with some coworkers and was impressed by the good selection of wine and alcohol. The ambiance was lovely and I would suggest bringing visitors to the city here. The outside terrace was also very nice. The staff were friendly, although towards the end of the night they started playing loud metal music, which seemed like a hint for us to finish up and leave. Overall, a good experience.
