The grilled and smoked eggplant appetizer was not my really my thing, but the salmon with puréed sweet potato on the side was cooked to perfection. The dessert however was the absolute highlight, the profiteroles were each a small bite of heaving served with an understated chocolate sauce and a light vanilla ice cream.
Place is so cozy and comfortable. I love it. The food, I would say a 7/10 for the food but the soufflé for dessert was amazing! 10/10!! overall experience 8/10!
We went here for brunch. I’ll give it 5 stars for service…they are very friendly and attentive. They offer advice, recommend without being offensive or condescending. Overall, a very classic French feel restaurant like you are in Paris. The escargot is fantastic; not at all overly oily or greasy…they make it just right. The clams on a half shell-perfectly done with the right vinegar based accompaniment. The only thing that was not bad at all, but just ok, was the foie gras. Of not for this, I would rate 5 stars. Next time we will try for dinner. Looking forward to it.
Nice atmosphere, attentive service, and decent food. All the dishes we got were “good but nothing special”, including the skirt steak, cod, burger, corn side and fries. Would not veto coming again but definitely not first choice.
I had dinner last evening at Benoit which the past had been of my favorites in NY. We ordered the roast chicken which is one of their signature dishes. The main course arrived 30 minutes after finishing our first course. When I say it arrived it was presented to us at the table. The waiter then said he would carve the chicken and bring it right back to us. 25 minutes later the carved chicken arrive cold, dry and unappetizing. The frites were stone cold. When the waiter could provide no answer I asked to see the manager. The manager explained first they were busy with a large party. I questioned how it could be presented to us what appeared to be nicely roasted and then show up 25 minutes later. Her answer become confused and then said when we now just show a chicken for presentation and then give you a another from the kitchen!! Obviously, the large party overwhelmed them and our chicken was forgotten. When I ask them to take it away and roast another one she tried convince us to eat the dreadful one in front of us after I refused she then said they had no more chickens. We ordered something else which was at best acceptable and were present with a $200 bill. Last meal for me at Benoit NY and probably last time in Paris where it had been one of my favorites. Boston Chicken would have done a better job!!
