We had a reservation so they were set up for us. Other than a couple of other tables, we had the place to ourselves. Service was slow but we were ok talking while we waited. Unfortunately, our dirty salad dishes sat on the tables and it was difficult to get the entrees on the table because of it. One of our party didn't receive her meal until after everyone else had almost finished eating. Apparently it was left off the order. The server should have caught that had she come back to check on the meal, but she didn't. Once that was taken care of though, that item really should not have been charged on the tab. I ordered a pasta dish with scallops and shrimp. It came with 2 scallops, 5 shrimp and 1 shrimp tail. The seafood was overcooked so it was tough, and all I could taste was some sort of vinegar (balsamic? . I shared a limoncello dessert which really tasted like nothing more than lemon sorbet. The meal dishes were also left on the table for far too long. I have been a server and know what a hard and dirty job it is, but making sure diners have a good experience is part of the job and good service gets rewarded with good tips. The service here was below adequate. Other than the salad and garlic knots, I was disappointed overall. I might go back sometime and try something else from the menu but it will be a while before I do. I need time to get over the disappointment.
Easy parking. Spacious. Restaurant was very slow/empty. Only 3 customers. Around 6pm weekday. Got couples special 2 for $40. Comes with 2 glasses wine. Food was good. Liked the garlic knots!
This was my first time coming to Tuscany and I loved it. We had ordered the calamari appetizer and it was amazing. It comes with this spicy red sauce and it addicting. I had ordered the fettuccine Asiago and it was to delicious. The service was good and she did a good job considering there was only one server working. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who loves Italian food.
So when my family is in the mood for a little Italiano we drive to Newport News to come here. We have been going to the restaurant since it was owned by the original owners. The new owners definitely have not disappointed all the long time customers when it comes to food, service, and great wine pairings. There is a small back room off to the left if you desire to have a small gathering with friends and family. I believe it holds about 15 to 20 people comfortably. Some of my favorite dishes there are polio el artillano and there's a dish that has the pork chops with them Marsala sauce. To date I have not had an appetizer here that I did not thoroughly enjoy. If you are ever on the peninsula or you are desiring for great dining with large portions this is the place to go to get the most for your money. They also offer great listings of wines if you desire to pair with your meal. This time I tried one of the many Merlot's they have available and I found one that was not too dry and a little sweet which I enjoyed.
My bf and i ordered the mozzarella fritta, fettuccine asiago, linguine con vongole, and a glass of sangria. the mozzarella's fritta was pretty much just mozzarella sticks so they tasted decent, both pasta dishes were so delicious, the glass of sangria was filled to the rim and tasted great too, and the salad which i think automatically comes with the meal was very delicious as well. the service wasn't the best but it was ok. we were waiting a bit for a waiter after we were seated and then when we finally had one, they weren't doing well with checking up on us and also when we wanted our check too. we would definitely visit again because we really enjoyed the food.
