Matee - Newtown

Food is always fresh and tasty. Yes they do the best Pides in Sydney in my opinion, and a whole lot of other amazing salads and rice and grilled meat plates. If you want honest Turkish food topped with great service and ambience; Matee will not disappoint!

This place has quite a few options for vegetarians. Had the Turkish lemonade, which was ok. Absolutely loved the food. Had a couple of dips, the Hyderi and Chill dip. They were excellent. Then had the "Imam Baylidi", which was finger licking good. Really wanted to lick the plate but had a street side table. The ambiance is not too bad, King Street's charm does the trick here. Will definitely go back for more.

I just had the most delish meat balls. The whole plate was divine!! And the service was just so sweet. Leaving with a happy belly and a new Sydney fav. Highly recommended. ????????????

I ordered a Kuzu Shish and Baklava. Both were straight forward. The Grilled chicken is tender and fresh whereas the Baklava was not too sweet. No complaints with the food but the service could be improved

Matee has delicious food! Yes we were starving at the time of entry so things were bound to taste more than satisfactory, but the fact that the memory of the flavours remain with you for a long time after, is more than enough reason to rate this place highly! Bread was spongey and delicious, and the dips were just divine. Hummus is almost always a winner so that was a given, but the chilli one was AMAZING. Very chilli indeed, but so worth it for the deliciousness. ????
