Contribuir a la retroalimentaciónI was rather disappointed with this bakery after hearing such good things about it. I’d say everything looked a lot better than it tasted. The pistachio macaron was pretty flavorless and the opera cake and lemon tart were mediocre. I love baked goods, but ended up not finishing anything I bought here. Coffee was just ok. Staff were friendly, but probably wouldn’t return for the pastries.
A huge selection of delicious baked goods from macrons to croissants, sweet to savory and the coffee is delicious! Will definitely be coming back!
Provided one extra star for the coffee and baked goods. The food on the shelf isn’t fresh however besides the baked goods; cookies etc. The sandwhiches are very dried out and oxygenated. Avocado on toast: the avocado is black because sitting out too long. Same with the salmon which is also dried and sliced too thickly; it should be very very thin and as fresh as possible. These things cannot just be left sitting for so long. I believe if these are improved it would greatly increase the quality.
Update!! A huge thank you to Sift for taking me up on my suggestion to add ADA accessible tables and chairs to the patio! Cheers to you for putting your customers first! Happy to have Sift in Niantic! Be ready to feast your eyes on so many amazing, culinary delights, each a work of art, as soon as you walk through the door. We got the almond croissant bulging with almond crème and big enough for two, the ham and cheese croissant, and the filled peanut butter cookie. The almond croissant was buttery from start to finish. The peanut butter filled cookie was a double treat, and we got a mushroom quiche to go! Prices for all that culinary extravagance were very reasonable. The entrance is accessible for a walker or wheelchair from the parking lot on Grand Street. There are handicap spaces available with a ramp up to the sidewalk. Then there’s a low metal threshold when you open the door. The inside is tight – one way in and one way out. I would suggest one table with chairs be replaced outside that is ADA accessible. We enjoyed having lunch outside on the patio with that gorgeous view. Looking forward to our next visit!
Sift is a posh little pastry shop with very good chicken salad sandwiches. Lots of fancy desserts that look like pieces of art but don't taste all that good. The only ones we like are the Opera Cake and the Carrot Cake Roulade. Macrons are very good but of course pricey like everywhere else. Giant cookies are really good especially the salted walnut chocolate chip. Croissants are delicious as are the lemon scones with Devonshire cream. Baguettes are strangely not that great. Sift always makes a nice gift or hostess gift. I once ordered a flourless chocolate cake for a shower and it was really a hit. So some things are delicious and somethings are marginal. Definitely worth a visit.
