The mixed vegetables were not hot enough for my liking. The service was slow, but the food was delicious.
I was contacted by Tioga Downs management. The food was awful and it made us sick. The service was so slow that we weren't even informed about the Valentine's Day specials, and instead, the table next to us was told about them. I will not be returning.
I've eaten at Virgils a few times and had a good experience each time. I had a special birthday last week, and my family wanted to treat me to a special dinner. I recommended Virgils, and made reservations for 7. We got there about 10 to 15 minutes after your opening. We were seated quickly, but seemed to wait for someone to take our order. We placed all our orders and ordered two appetizes for the table (Trainwrick Fries, BBQ Nachos). After what seemed forever, I called the waitress to ask about the appetizers. She apologized for the wait, and took over plates. A short time later they arrived. When our meals arrived a plate of grilled catfish fillet had an odor that was immediately noticed by two people sitting next to each other. When it was tasted, it was uneatable and probably spoiled. It was sent back and replaced after a long wait. Two other orders of catfish was OK. I ordered a pulled pork BBQ chicken combo. The chicken leg skin was burnt to a crisp and not eatable. I ate my meal because there was enough meat left after pealing away the burnt section. The appetizers were generous and good tasting which somewhat made up for the slow service. At this point I'm not sure if I would recommend Virgil's to a friend.
The waiter/bartender we had was not alert to us, but consumed with the 4some that was sitting next to us. Ready for drinks, but can't get his attention. So unsatisfied with that. The other waiter/bartender took over for him, and that was awesome.
