Bailey's - NORFOLK ISLAND

We dined in the outdoor heated covered area as a group. We enjoyed all of our breakfasts and four evening meals. The staff was both efficient and friendly. The breakfast options were extensive and the set evening meals were delicious. The special "Christmas in July" dinner was particularly generous.

We had a great experience dining at this charming restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The breakfast options were excellent, either cooked to order or self-serve continental. The lunches had a limited but delicious selection. Dinner featured set meals each night with a good variety throughout the week. All the dishes were flavorful and the portions were generous.

We were told through word of mouth that the restaurant offers a 3-course set menu every night for $19.95, so we decided to try it on a Sunday for a Roast Dinner. It was quite enjoyable, although the portion of meat was a bit small. We would have definitely returned if we weren't trying to try out as many restaurants on the island as possible. Some of the set meals didn't appeal to us as much. The service was good and the atmosphere was pleasant but quiet. It can get busy, so I recommend making a reservation if you're interested in trying the roast dinner.

Maybe we should have just had the cheap, set price menu but wanted to treat ourselves to one fancier meal while on the island so opted for a la carte - that was a mistake. It is a lovely old world setting, such a shame all else was disappointing. The service was very slow, got one wrong order with no apology, our food was very ordinary. The group at the next table also got two wrong meals, and another table were forgotten altogether and waited over an hour for just fish & chips. The music was inappropriate for a mature clientele - JJJ. Finally they tried to overcharge us. Would not recommend.

We liked the look of this Restaurant and the decor was very pleasing however the food was expensive and way below average maybe to be fair the Island was shot of supplies because the supply ship could not get in but our steaks were tough and over cooked and the chicken came in a huge lump and was also badly presented . The sweets were OK but the girls serving was mre intent on chatting than looking after the customers.t
