Contribuir a la retroalimentaciónWe visited for the first time on a rainy Saturday and found the place to be uncrowded. Our server, McKenzie, who also handled the bar, provided impeccable service. The smoked Gouda mac and cheese was incredible, and the burnt ends were possibly the best I've ever tasted. We also tried the French dip, which was excellent. I’ll definitely be returning!
As soon as I walked in and made my way through the restaurant, I noticed how clean everything was, including the patio. It was spotless, which is a definite plus, especially at a place that welcomes pets. The patio is newly constructed, featuring tables for individuals as well as a long countertop table in a covered area, making it perfect for our group of six or seven. However, the patio is made of blacktop, which might get a bit too hot for dogs in the sunny areas during the summer. I didn’t catch our server’s name, but he was friendly and attentive to our food and drink orders. I tried the Smartmouth Amber Ale and ordered the Pulled BBQ sandwich, which comes with a small cup of slaw and one side; I chose fries. Other side options included collard greens, mac and cheese, and hush puppies. I received my meal about 5-10 minutes after ordering, and the portion sizes were excellent. The BBQ had a nice hint of spice and vinegar that was pleasantly mild. I opted not to use any of the various sauces available, as the flavor was good on its own, though not particularly extraordinary. The fries were standard string fries with some seasoning. All in all, I enjoyed my time there and am definitely looking forward to trying more items from the menu on my next visit. They’re located on Hampton Blvd near ODU, so definitely check them out!
This restaurant was fantastic! I ordered the brisket and sweet tea, both of which were delicious. The staff was very friendly, and the place was spotless. Additionally, the prices were incredibly reasonable for the area. I truly have no complaints and will definitely return!
Parking is somewhat limited, but since it was a Sunday when I went, it wasn't too crowded. I definitely want to return and try their food, as my friend and others have raved about their excellent BBQ. With Redwood nearby, Small's has some competition, but given that it’s been around for a few years, they must be doing something right. Based on their beer selection, great service, and the delicious dessert I had, I would recommend Small's. Plus, being there with good company made the experience even more enjoyable.
The brisket sandwich was expertly crafted. The kaiser roll had a delightful crunch, adding great texture to the sandwich. The chopped brisket paired with the Texas BBQ sauce was full of rich flavor without being overly sweet, and the slaw on top complemented it beautifully. Overall, the meal was well worth it, with excellent food and service. I also appreciate the restaurant’s commitment to sustainability, as they’re moving away from plastic by offering eco-friendly straws. I highly recommend this spot to locals looking for some fantastic barbecue!
