Contribuir a la retroalimentaciónMy wife I were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary with a week's stay in Cape Breton Island. Hands down, this is THE best restaurant on the island! There's very limited seating their hours are very limited (5 8 p.m.! , so reservations are a must. The mussels frites were amazing I would have loved to pour out the broth into a bowl enjoy the rest like a soup (but my wife would have walked out . Wife had a delicious tuna steak I had the lobster stuffed pasta shells unforgettable meals. Equally unforgettable was their sticky pudding, which provided an explosion of flavor! As the server knew we were celebrating our 25th, she brought out, gratis, an additional dessert, a strawberry shortcake over a donut. Definitely a place for a special occasion because the prices are very reasonable definitely a place to go for any occasion! Thank you for a fine send off to a very memorable trip!
Excellent food served by efficient friendly staff. The establishment is clean and welcoming. Look out the windows and watch the coming and going of a historic Harbour. Our favourite place to dine.
We first visited lobster pound and Moore in their old location, on our trip to Nova Scotia last year (we are from Vancouver, BC). The food and service was fantastic, so when we decided to visit the Atlantic coast for the fall colors, we made sure to make another reservation! I really enjoyed the scallops they were cooked perfectly and the citrus based sauce really complemented, and my partner's steak was Smokey and flavorful (he says this is the most delicious steak he has ever had). We shared the honey lemon cheese cake, it was a delightful balance of sweet honey and the slight saltiness of the cheese cake. Be aware this is a busy place so reservations are a must, especially before October. Also, this is not a family restaurant, so don't bring kids under 12 and expect to be accommodated. We have really enjoyed both our visits, and will continue to return anytime we are in Nova Scotia!
Wow. I don 't even know how to articulate how this small, well run gem is so great. I have been asking about this place from out west for at least two years. NObody talked it up. What 's wrong with people? Have you not actually been there?!!! We were thinking of dining out somewhere I hadn 't tried, since it 's my last week on our beautiful island, before I head back to AB. I mentioned this to my gf and she immediately said, Oh my god! You haven 't been?! We are going! Finally, someone who knows what 's up! Every course was amazing. Their mussels are unique and delicious. Served with frites and a garlic aioli, they are a must have here. My friends husband ordered the crab cakes. They are served interestingly enough, but didn 't hit the mark for me personally. My gf had the lobster ravioli and I must say, I 'll be returning to try this dish. It was the number one eye catcher to me and is apparently one of their most popular dishes. If I hadn 't had somewhere to be after our dinner, maybe I 'd have had the pasta, but it would have just been too much. Anyway, it 's a rich and delicious coma for sure! Her spouse had the man special of the day. What an incredible portion! Halibut and haddock served big man style. Lol Extra large! I decided on the bacon wrapped halibut and basmati and was not disappointed. Incredible pairing with the pistachio and onion marmalade. Wow! Add in a perfect Sauvignon Blanc and this was my best dining experience on the island. Also, a gf insisted on dessert as I never order it anywhere. I 'm always amped for trying appetizers. There 's never any room left. However, MAKE SURE you leave room for the sticky pudding. It 's actually to die for...truly! I 'm sorry because this is my longest review ever! I hope you didn 't glaze over. This place is just that good. Be sure to make a reservation and if you like to dine and drink awhile, make it the last one. Their tables need to be flipped and you won 't get a seat for a walk in typically. Thank you, Richard Moore! Cape Breton deserved someone like you! This review has been transferred as he moved locations and yelpers closed the old location. Originally 09.16.2016
Whenever I'm home in North Sydney, this is the place to go. I go with friends, family, whoever wants to come. Richie and Leslie are a power duo and their service and food exceed expectations for anywhere I've been. In terms of my recommendations, I've had the fish and chips trio, and the mussels chips (god I don't even like selfish and I dream about those mussels). You can't go wrong, and you won't go home hungry. On top of this all, this chef and his lovely wife are amazing leaders in the community, and their work providing meals to vulnerable folk during COVID has been exceptional. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
