That said, this is easily the most underrated sushi place in KC. It's a really good place foranybody regardless of how much they like or dislike sushi as everything they offer is freshly made and the small portions givesyou a lot of control over how much you get. The service is really good as well. They're helpful for beginners to conveyor-beltsushi and are really good at keeping your drink full. It's a real shame when I see the parking lot close to empty because itfeels that for a town that apparently loves sushi, nobody seems to get how good this place is! Edit: OH and if you like tempuracrab sticks or want to try getting into sushi without just jumping in, they have a dish that's just crab sticks, rice and acouple sauces and it's literally 90% of what I eat here personally, it's just so good.
I visited in 2014 and had an interesting experience. The food was fantastic, but when it came time to settle the bill, I handed my credit card to the girl at the counter. She was writing something down and frequently looking around, which I didn’t think much of at the time. A few days later, I noticed some fraudulent charges on my credit card, including a hotel in Kansas City and an Apple purchase. Given that I was living in North Dakota at the time and had only used the card at that restaurant during my visit, it became clear that she must have stolen my credit card information. Overall, that was unfortunate, but aside from that incident, I really enjoyed the food and was glad I went.
I visited this restaurant for the first time, but it definitely won't be my last. They serve sushi on a little train that travels around a large table, allowing you to choose what you want based on the color of the plate. The prices for the items on the train range from $3.25 to $4.50, or you can order from the menu, which offers slightly lower prices. It's a fantastic spot for a date night!
I thoroughly enjoyed watching the sushi being prepared; the two chefs were fantastic. However, I found the prices for the sushi to be quite steep. The better quality sushi, represented by the purple plate, consists of just two pieces for $4.50. On the other hand, the calamari was delicious and well worth the $4.50. The imitation crab and similar California roll-type sushi come as 2-3 pieces for $3.50. While it's decent sushi, I feel the price is too high for what you get.
My son and I really enjoy going to Sakura sushi train! The staff is always friendly and accommodating. Getting reasonable priced good sushi is challenging in Kansas so we are glad you?re here and look forward to many more visits
