El Sabor De Marina - Oliver

I finally decided to pick up some "authentic' mexican food from here but was disappointing for a few reasons. The flavour of the spices and sauces was very good, but I believe the vegetable mix was that of frozen carrots, peas and corn, the kind you get at the rocery store. It's a flavour mix that you can instantly recognize and I would expect better from a taco stand surrounded by orchards and vegetable farms. Also, we ordered a burrito, a quesadilla, and a couple of taquitos and we found them to all be almost the exact same, just made slightly different. The ingredients were all the same, just put together in a different format. I would expect to see some variation in the dishes.

This is as cheap as it gets for eating. Others have commented on the wait - and it was probably around 30 minutes, at 33 degrees with little shade. Food quality is good - it's obvious effort is put into the preparation. Perhaps a bit bland - adding salsa is absolutely required.

We went with friends who had come to El Sabor several times in the past. They said that the menu had shortened somewhat since last year, but the tacos and burritos we had were excellent. Well made and tasty. Real Mexican home food.

Perhaps if I had not experienced eating at the El Sabor De Marina in 2016, this review may have been better, but the quality of the food has greatly change. The food was authentically Mexican served with delicious homemade beans, sour cream and cheese. I do not know why the recipes have changed from totally awesome to disappointing. They may have a different chef, or they may be just cutting back. Instead of sacrificing quality, it would have been better to keep their winning recipes and increase the prices.

We stopped by here after an afternoon of fruit picking! I am so happy we did. We probably waited 25 minutes for our food, but it was well worth it! It was by far the best Mexican food we have ever had in Canada. We tried the chicken burrito, beef taco & chicken taco! They were freshly made, and so simple yet amazing! We just wish there was a place this awesome in Calgary! We will be back for sure! You need to go check it out! It doesn't look like much, but it is amazing!
