I have had Jonoe now a handful of times, but I am always left with a feeling of disappointment. Their produce is fresh and good, but everything is so tasteless. I have had many of their different sushi and its very conservative and «nordic» friendly. Everything tastes bland, even their chilimayo tastes like regular mayonaisse diluted with water. Their crispy duck was freshly cooked and crispy, but once again no spice or flavor, just cripsy duck served with a bland standard dark sauce and pancakes. They need to be a bit more ambitious and this could be a top sushi restaurant. If you read this: get some more brass flavours in your dishes, with spice, smokey, sour, something.
We just had to recommend this restaurant, so everyone who visits Oslo don’t miss out on this pearl! We have lived in Grünerløkka for two years now, and Jonoe sushi is on the table every time we celebrate something, or just need some highlights in the everyday life. Mimi and the chefs are just the kindest, warmest and funniest people we know! Thank you for making our life’s just a little bit better! -Markus and Ragnhild
