When we sat down and I had a good look at the menu, I was pleasantly surprised by all options with the title “GF”, which below indicate that these items “gluten free”. However, when the food was delivered to the table, the waitress put my food down and pointed to the sauce in a bowl next to my plate and said that I could not really eat that because it is not gluten-free. I am grateful that she had actually said something, but it would have appreciated if she had mentioned the elimination of this key part of the plate before it is served so that I could decide to order something else. Your solution for my sauceless egg foo yung was to me some gluten-free soy sauce packages. Apparently, most of the dishes are served with GF with heavy modifications and excretions and you had better ask what they change or you could end up with an omelet and soy sauce. We mentioned to the manager that it would be good to make it somewhat different with formulations such as “can be made gluten friendly” because the “gluten free” designation is misleading. He wasn't susceptible to it and talked about how it would be cut into his business as such and he can't absorb any allergy... he has no sense...
The staff was very competent and helpful to ensure that my meal was gluten-free. They do not have a dedicated cooktop, but the food is phenomenal and the cook will make flour in areas where he makes the sauces gluten-free.
Don't go here if you're a celiac. When I was here, I was so excited that they had gf options. I told the owner and the waitress that I was a celiac and that I need everything separated and can't have cross contact. They assured me everything was safe. I was very inflated the next day thought it could have been from sodium, but definitely was gluten). I tried to try again a year later. When I called and asked if they could make it gluten-free, they said no problem. I told them again that I was a celiac and needed it separated. They said that they use the same utensils, the same wok for everything and that it is not possible to have it completely gluten-free. If there is NOT gf, do NOT specify on your menu that it is! This may be sensitive to gluten, but I was super disappointed about it and the fact that it was back-insured to me was for the first time safe when it wasn't at all.
After moving from Nova Scotia, we had a hard time finding quality Chinese food in the Valley until we stumbled upon Dragon Restaurant.
We have visited this restaurant several times on our way back from Kelowna. The food is consistently fresh and delicious, and I highly recommend it. It is worth the drive, or you can also opt for takeout.
