. This place is great. Our server is so sweet and we sat there for 4 hours ordering multiple pitchers and not once did we feel like we overstayed. We laughed loudly and took many pictures. We ordered food off the brunch menu and it is delicious. No regrets and will be a repeat costumer.
When I lived in the neighborhood I loved coming here. It was always where I brought friends from out of town. Since I moved a couple of years ago, I’ve only been a handful of times but each time it’s been disappointing, to the point I can’t justify going here anymore. Some menu items aren’t as described, some food is great but most is pretty basic. Service has been the worst part though. Eye rolling, scoffing at requests like “can I have a glass for the margaritas too” (because they brought too few) and being laughed at when you ask if you could have chips when they didn’t bring any with the chips and salsa you ordered (after waiting 10 minutes to ask because people forget things, it happens) Another time they took half a burrito without asking if I was done then tried to charge me for a replacement. Overall, I’m sure some people have a great time and maybe I just got unlucky or caught people on a bad day a few too many times, but I think there are now better places with a more reliably pleasant experience
Cantina Los Caballitos in Philadelphia is a Mexican cuisine gem. The vibrant atmosphere and friendly staff create the best dining environment. The real standout, though, is their outstanding margaritas! Open late, it's the perfect spot for a delicious dinner or post-midnight snack. The blend of flavors, inviting ambiance, and convenient late-night service make this a must-visit for an unforgettable Mexican dining experience in South Philly. Cheers to a culinary gem!
This is a tough review to write. The food was really good. Beyond traditional Mexican fare, this restaurant offers multiple choices for vegan/vegetarian dietary restrictions. We got the platanos, esquites, vegan tamales, and chilaquiles, and they were all delicious. All that said, we were underwhelmed by the quality of the service, and that may be an understatement. While I can understand slow service when a place is busy and understaffed on a Sunday afternoon, I won’t give a pass to snarky, unwarranted treatment. Unfortunately, we were subject to both. It may have just been a bad day, but not sure we’ll return.
