Black Ginger Thai The Slate, Phuket

Splendid restaurant probably the best one in Phuket. Nice food, really good service, magic atmosphere. Very expensive but the level is very high. I recommended once.

Stunning restaurant beautifully decorated, amazing views and bar. Cocktails, beer and water were reasonably priced. However, we did not feel the menu was straight forward we had to ask about rice and noodle dishes as they weren’t listed. There were other couples taking half an hour to choose and kept asking questions (so we weren’t the only ones). In the end we went for the set menu thinking this would give us a variation of dishes. Sadly we were both really disappointed, most of the dishes looked nice in appearance. The complementary dish was tasteless apart from the crispy onion sprinkles. The coconut ice cream dessert sounded delicious (one of the reasons I chose the set menu). When the dessert turn up there was a tiny spoon full of ice cream, with what tasted like a can of coconut milk over it with some shaped jellies things as well as some kidney beans floating in it! Needless to say we didn’t eat it! I did think to myself I have served up much better myself and considering this is meant to be Michelin star! No thought or presentation at all! We have had much better meals in Thailand for £20! SAVE YOUR MONEY GO FOR A DRINK THERE. SERVICE CHARGE IS 10% GOVERNMENT TAX IS 7% . CAME TO 6700 BAHT.

We booked here on recommendation of friends and we were not disappointed. We were a little worried coming with our 3 year old child but there were plenty of families there and they also do a children’s menu which has a good variety and reasonable priced. The atmosphere and decor were just right. The staff were very attentive and spoke very good English making it easier to understand the dishes being served. Cannot complain regarding the food and service and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Would highly recommend and worth the visit!

Great food, wine, service and atmosphere!! We had one of the dégustation menus which was perfect. All courses were a small portion of 3 5 different Thai dishes so got to sample of lot of different food which was all beautifully prepared and presented. The atmosphere was great. The ride across the lagoon with the ferryman made us all start humming Bryan Ferry. And don’t worry very stable and safe with heels long dresses The wine list is also quite good.
