Amato's - Portland

I drove all the way from West Virginia just to come back home and it was worth every mile! Every visit to this restaurant is a delight.

Whenever I am in Maine, this restaurant is always my go-to spot first.

My 77-year-old husband misses the wonderful sandwiches from this restaurant a lot since we moved to the Midwest. The atmosphere doesn't quite warrant a 5-star rating because you can't dine in, but I think it's because the staff wants to focus completely on making the best Italian sandwich possible. They also offer the option to ship the sandwiches anywhere in the country for those who can afford it. I hope to visit multiple times when in the area again!

I recommend The Real Italian sandwich. No matter what this type of sandwich is named across the US, the one Amato 's makes is by far the best.

I love the food here the people are so friendly polite. I am always getting a sandwich from Amato's. They make the best Italians in Maine. All their food is delicious!
