A Quinta - Povoacao

We stopped into A Quintas for dinner our first night in Furnas. The atmosphere was fantastic. Seating is part outside and part under cover but it is the most stylish decor we have seen this week on the island. We ere directed to choose our table the only ones free were next to the stage and there was someone setting up to play. We were a little nervous but as it turned out, the performer was fantastic not too loud, not too reverent. There were lots of families and kids running around. We came back a second time and sat outside in the garden. We could choose to sit under the lime tree or the orange tree. The seating was not super comfortable but worked for the length of time we were there. We ate grilled local fish, fish and chips and burgers. The grilled local fish and hand cut potato chips were the highlight.

We ate lunch here during our day in Furnas. The atmosphere is nice with the open space to the outside. We ordered a chicken sandwich and fish and chips. The chicken and the fish were both good but the portions were on the small side.

Lovely garden to sit in enjoy drinks food. Good range of reasonably priced drinks, all that we tried were lovely. Had one meal which was good really cheap. Came back the next day for drinks had a tapas dish with it- would recommend the chorizo. Very friendly staff.

A Quinta is one of the best places to relax in all of São Miguel (excluding those with hot springs as that would be unfair). Tables made of slabs from enormous old trees emit a faerie cobalt glow beneath the orange grove trees. The eco-minded staff spend the cool winter months woodworking and serve up delicious cocktails and friendly conversation in the summer. This is THE place to be in Furnace for unique ambiance and the best caipirinha ever. Enchanting!

'A Quinta ' is the organic place in the wonderful enchanted valley of Furnas, where we feel great until late at night, talking, laughing, eating and drinking a few glasses with everyone we like.
