The food was excellent (see photos), the atmosphere was intimate and family-friendly (although the space is limited), and the staff were incredibly friendly. We ordered Mongolian lamb, black bean beef, sweet chilli prawns, special fried rice, and steamed rice, with water to drink. The cost per person was approximately $27, which we found to be very reasonable for three main dishes, special fried rice, and steamed rice. The restaurant has a small, cozy feel, so it's best to book a table in advance as they have limited seating. Once inside, the experience is homely and welcoming, with business cards lining the walls and beautiful artwork to admire. The customer service was excellent, with our server being friendly and attentive. They even offered us cutlery when they noticed we were using chopsticks. The food was prepared quickly and brought to our table within 10 minutes of ordering. We were checked on throughout the meal and asked about our experience once we finished. The owner even took the time to visit our table and have a chat, which added to the welcoming atmosphere. The food itself was delicious, with perfectly cooked meat and seafood. The prawns were a generous size for the price. Overall, this restaurant is a gem and I highly recommend it to everyone, whether dining in or opting for takeout.
We recently celebrated my daughter's birthday party at this restaurant. I reserved the entire place and it was absolutely fantastic. The quality and quantity of the food surpassed our expectations and we all thoroughly enjoyed our experience.
Pleasantly surprised at this tugged away gem in Queanbeyan! We went to Canton Chinese/Malaysia Restaurant under the invitation from a friend who have been there a few times, and they said i must try their Laksa. We have decided to ordered a few dishes to enable us to share and try them out. Prior to that we were greeted very warmly and welcome by one of the owner 's son. Chinese tea were served to us promptly whilst we gazed at the many mouth watering dishes offered, on top of it, there was also a blackboard specials of the day. When it was time to order, the owner came to take our orders and suggested and asked us what our preferences are and whether we like the food very spicy or medium or mild. We went for 'medium ' to be 'safe '. We had curry chicken, which was very smooth with the coconut cream and the fragrance of lemon grass and turmeric just the way i like it! We also ordered paratha to go with the curry. These were God sent!! It was very fresh, not oily and very fluffy and so light. Order 2 serves but we later order another 2 pieces as it was so so good!! Need i say more!! Next our order of spicy salt and pepper pork chops. I noticed firstly that it was a generous serves compared to recent establishments, and that was great for a cold Saturday afternoon! The chops in bite sized, were seasoned and tender. I five spices and pepper were not overly enhancing. I would say, just right for us. The spring onions and fresh chilli enhanced the dish to its 'wow ' factor. they were fried slightly golden brown. One cannot go to a Malaysian restaurant without ordering the Chau ku tau '. Rice noodles fried with dark soya sauce with a generous helping of medium sized prawns, beef, bean curd and generous helping of bean shoots. Just great and the chilli oil that came with it made it a great combination. Then the dish i was very much looking forward to, Combination Laksa. Big bowl of noodles and a huge topping of mixed goodies bean curd, prawns, chicken meat, fried bean curd cubes and some greens. These were all top with a bounty of fresh bean shoots and chilli. What makes a great laksa boils down to the soup! Man, the aroma then the waiter put the bowl in front of me was...amazing!! I dug in and as they say, 'the rest is/was history '!! I reckon its one of the best laksa i tasted in Australia, and it felt and tasted like eating it in Malaysia! Seriously, you have to taste it yourself to believe it!! We had after dinner mint after the meal and we could eat any dessert that will have to be another visit! Did i mention we were were given a large plate of freshly fried prawn crackers as we settle down with tea on our arrival? It was a Saturday morning and we went in soon after they opened their door at 12, But come 20 minutes later, the restaurant was full!! I think all 8 tables, i think. I didn 't count as i was busy eating, sorry!! The décor was decorated 'busy ' with lanterns/ coloured lights and others. But there were a wide variety of oil painting on the walls, for sale,. I fancy a few of them and would consider them to be worthy of hanging in any walls. On one side of the wall were lots of business cards, all stuck on the wall neatly, so if you needed a service/tradies etc. of some kind, you may find one there. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Couldn 't fault them, not that there was anything wrong of to complaint. And the best part, after consuming the food (there were left overs and they were put into a doggy bag), the bill came and i almost fall off the chair, literally speaking. It was just under $110. More than enough food, with left overs, for 5 hungry adults!! We will be back!!
Really great food. The pepper beef was outstanding, great flavour. Very tender, hot and peppery. The lemongrass prawns were tasty and plump. We had the mixed entree which seemed to be homemade and a lot better than most other places. The clear chicken mushroom soup was soothing and tasty. The flaming deep fried icecream was a crack up too. Great service and friendly staff will be back
This place is pure gold. Delightful service, big portions, and the whole menu (or, every dish I've tried) is flavourful and so fresh. Every meal I've had here has been fantastic, and today the staff accommodated a serious allergy and our group being quite tardy with cheerful smiles. Couldn't recommend highly enough.
