Kirari West Bakeshop is more like a cafe, it serves up coffee, baked goods, toasts and sandwiches, anything but croissants, which is what I was actually looking for. I got two pieces of pastries anyway, the chocolate brioche and a cheese bun with ham. Both items are fine, I enjoyed them but they weren't anything special. The shop has a no-frills vibe, with some seatings both inside and outside.
Love love LOVE this gluten free (and some are vegan) bakery. They are soft and moist unlike many other gluten free bread, and remind me of Japanese pastries I used to have in Japan (prior to my wheat allergy). My favorite is their chocolate brioche and French toast with banana and Nutella. Even my Gluten tolerant friend enjoyed them and wants to go back there with me. So good
The Cinnamon Custard Brioche has a moist spongy consistency. The cinnamon custard is tasty and really compliments the brioche. The Blueberry Scone doesn't have a normal scone texture; it's more like a dense drier muffin. The blueberries are plentiful and good. The sweetness of this scone is comparable to a regular one and this is my favorite of the three. The Vegan Brownie with Raspberry's texture is fudgy and starts off smooth but finishes with a slight graininess. It has delightful chocolatey flavor but, at times, it seems to compete with the prominent raspberry flavor. I just started eating gluten-free so my taste buds are still tainted by the original versions but I believe all three of these were worth my money! I would definitely return.
This was easily the best gluten-free bakery I’ve visited. Not only was everything GF, but everything either looked delicious or was delicious itself. Truly spectacular.
