The king prawn tempura was served piping hot but tasted like dirty oil. The lasagna was dry and lacked filling and flavour. The sweet potato fries were soggy and the burger from the specials menu was bland and unappetizing. The wine was expensive and of poor quality. Overall, the meal was a letdown and I would not recommend returning. The lasagna, served with two frozen garlic breads and a small side salad, cost £16.95, with an additional £4.50 for fries and £10.95 for a large glass of wine. I would have been better off having a pre-made lasagna at home.
I had four meals at this restaurant, and only one was decent – a burger, which isn't hard to put together. The staff were not very helpful, and it wasn't busy. I visited here about a year ago, and it wasn't as bad as it is now. It seems like the standards are slipping.
I stopped by for a late lunch and had to wait a long time to be seated even though the restaurant was empty. The menu was limited to sandwiches and baked potatoes. The baked potatoes were not very hot and lacked chili. I found it disappointing that a baked potato, chips, and a scoop of coleslaw cost £10.95. I mentioned the issue with the chili to the waiter, but nothing was done about it. I also bought two meringue cakes to go and was surprised that they were £5 each. I won't be returning as the food was average and overpriced. The staff was friendly but not very efficient. The decor was overly gimmicky with a nautical theme. It's a shame that the food didn't live up to expectations.
The restaurant was beautifully decorated for Christmas but sadly anything but cosy. We had to ask twice to be moved from chilly window table to a warmer place beside the (fake but attractive) fire. I chose mixed tempura from a la carte menu as festive menu wasn’t offered. It was all very dry and tasteless. The accompanying two sauces were uninteresting and I suspect not made in the kitchen. Altogether unappetising. Waiters were very courteous. This is the second disappointing meal I have had, so despite the welcoming atmosphere I won’t be back.
All the food ordered from the starters, mains and desserts were excellent. Service was first class and the Christmas decorations had the wow factor.
