Let me start off by saying, the prices are very reasonable, the portions are generous, and it 's quality Chinese food. All entrees included fried rice or white rice. We ordered the Sichuan fish filet in hot chili oil. Don 't let the red sea scare you, it really isn 't hot, mild at most. You 'd be surprised that under that oil, the boiled fish really isn 't greasy at all (of course don 't spoon the oil over your rice). Fresh huge chunks of catfish filets, the boiled sauce was delicious! Loved the mala numbing spice that 's commonly found in Sichuan cooking, haven 't had much of it here! Next we had the braised pork riblets in brown sauce. It 's pork ribs that 's tender and fall off the bone, slightly breaded, fried, then braised in a sticky sweet sauce. Very good and great with rice! The handpulled beef noodle soup was my 2nd favorite thing. I love my beef chunks with tendon, it adds a gelatinous texture, and was cooked down perfectly. This broth in particular is supposed to be light and delicate, delish! The noodles were a tad overdone this time and lost some of it 's chew, but overall still great! In all honestly, if their other menu items are just as good, this might just be my new go to for a more authentic Chinese food in the Metro Jackson area. The majority of their entrees were under $10 for real restraunt quality food. Service is great, the place is very clean, with lots of seating. Previous review: Finally had a chance to come by Dragon hotpot for dinner tonight. We ordered half and half which is the traditional Sichuan spicy herbal and regular herbal broth. This style broth in particular is usually lighter in taste, which is why they offer the sauce bar to accompany your protein and veggies. I 'm not big on dipping sauces, so I usually like to over season my broth with satay, minced garlic and red chili to both of my pots (I do this wherever I go for Sichuan herbal broth). The spicy broth is really good here, the regular is very mild in taste, great if you 're trying to eat healthier. There are many different kinds of Asian hot pots, but the only way to explain this one is, it 's very much like American fondue. Hot pots can come to your table already preassembled or cook it yourself. You cook whatever you want to eat, and eat whatever you cooked. Cook as you go. This place is à la carte. We ordered sliced beef, beef tendon, fish filet, squid, octopus, enoki mushroom, napa cabbage and handpulled noodles. I really enjoyed everything, but those handpulled noodles, those noodles were wonderful! It had such a nice chew to it, the texture was just so perfect!
I love hot pots, and my husband happened to run across this new place, and brought me here. This restaurant is still in its opening phases. They are sorting some things out, and apparently are still having menu changes. Scott was a great server, fun and friendly. We got the half and half, normal broth and spicy broth. I really enjoyed the spicy broth. The normal wasn't bad; it just didn't impress me. They had nine sauce, and even make a special mixed sauce that your server can specially mix. Overall it was yummy, the atmosphere was light and nice, and the service was good.
Fun new place with plenty of authentic Chinese selections. Go for the hotpot. Enjoyed the garlic steak, shrimp balls, lamb shoulder, cabbage, and wide noodles.
I ordered from the kitchen as I figured an hour would not be long enough for hotpot. The food wasn't bad but it wasn't spicy. I do want to go back and try the hotpot, though. It smelled amazing. UPDATE: I had the hotpot today with a couple of friends. I had to add the last star because it's really really good. We did the half spicy, half house pot. We ordered several meats including the lamb and garlic beef which were super tasty. We also got several vegetables including potatoes and napa cabbage. Everything was awesome. You're going to need a bib when you eat and a forklift to get you back to your car. Oh, and don't forget to get the traditional dipping sauce that the server will show you how to make. That was the best combination of flavors I could think of, especially with the cabbage.
My best friend and I ate here and we were very intrigued with the food and how it tastes. We've eaten a lot of Chinese Food in our lives and we must say this was the best. The staff was amazing, the hostess even asked us if we had a specific song to hear and she played it. We tipped her very well due to the fact of her exceptional service. We will be back.
