The hot and sour mushroom was such a clever combination of Chinese vegetables for their innate texture and flavors. The black pepper prawns had my favorite seasoning however the prawns themselves had too much salt. Also love the German focused wine list. Had a bottle of Sylvaner which apparently was the #1 grape in Germany a century ago. Dry, acidic and saline. Great reco from Mike the co-owner. Thanks for the amaro!
We went to porcelain for a pre-valentine dinner and had a great experience. The menu is updated seasonally and most of their dishes are meant to be shared. We ordered the hot and sour potatoes, branzino and half chicken and it was a lot of food for two. Our waitress also recommended a bottle of Riesling that paired with the food we ordered and it was a great choice. Lot of great and unique flavors, definitely would recommend.
Porcelain had a dark and interesting atmosphere. We arrived, we were one of only three tables seated. The server was friendly and explained how their menu worked. We ended up ordering 5 small plates and 2 large plates to share. The server said we would probably have some food left over, but i guess we were ravenous since we finished everything with room to spare. The Hot and Sour Potatoes, Black Pepper Prawns, Steamed Egg, Double Cooked Pork Jowl, and Kimchi-Brined Fried Half Chicken were hits at the table. We felt like the Charred Bok Choy was pretty mid. The recommended Steamed Whole Branzino was a big miss for us.
The black pepper prawns are damn good. maybe best thing on the menu
It's shockingly easy to get a table here considering how good the food is, how nice the decor is, and how great the location is. Service is pretty good too. Works really well both as a neighborhood standby and as something for a special occasion. I wish the wine list was a little more extensive. But that's ok. Everything else is awesome.
