Outstanding in every way. Delicious felafel salad, vegan poutine, and the chocolate coffee pie alone was worth the the trip. I wish I lived close to this place!
What a quirky hole in the wall! It was recommended by the aubergiste at our B&B. It is run by a group of artists and hippy types. The main artist had a thing for women 's breasts the painting of the woman on our tabletop even had three. We ordered veal burgers with blue cheese and gruyere and other good stuff excellent. Nice complement of salad and fries. We had Boréale Amber draught with our meal. To top it off sugar pie with coffee in it quite tasty would definitely do that again. Prices were higher than you would expect in Ottawa for a similar meal closer to than . Nevertheless, we enjoyed the experience and recommend it.
Found this very hipster cafe through Yelp and Google reviews, and decided to give it a try! The prices are quite expensive compared to Toronto, but the portions are large, and comparatively speaking, the prices are quite standard in the smaller town of Riviere du Loup. I ordered the salmon salad, my sister got the poutine, Mom ordered the ham wrap, and Dad got the burger. Dad seemed to enjoy his burger for the most part, and cleared most of his fries. My Mom adored the smoked ham wrap she loved the gooey melted cheese and was delighted to find that the ham was actually some high quality smoked ham not like the deli types, but the Schwartz type. Though she appreciated the cheese curds on her poutine, my sister didn't like the fact that the seasoned fries (with oregano and whatnot) were used as the poutine base. I also would have preferred if plain fried were used instead; the herb mixture with the gravy and cheese curds were just slightly odd. My salad was definitely overpriced. It had about the same amount of grilled vegetables as all the other lunch options, and there was just a tiny piece of salmon placed on top of some lettuce base. The dressing was slightly oily, but decent! Overall, wonderful portion sizes, but nothing too different that you can't find anywhere else. I will say, however, that the cafe is quite quaint inside with some wonderful decor!
First time in, me and boyfriend ordered the lamb burger and the falafel. My falafel was green! GREEN! I've never had green falafel! Boyfriend loved his burger the region is known for its great lamb, and he was really happy with his meal. Overall, a great lunch. We then came back a second time on our way out of Gaspé. We both got the pulled lamb served over fried rice. Sooo good! I also ordered a sweet tea on the side, which reminded me of the tea I drank in the summer with my Houston friends as a kid... Real American iced tea! We were so happy with our food here, and eating in such a fun space (art on all the walls, created by a local artist) made this small town memorable for me.
