We tried looking for this restaurant and the GPS took us to a dangerous area in the Arecibo region. We couldn’t find the place.
Typical cafeteria style meal with lots of good options. There are also a few things on the menu board that have to be made and are not on the line. There’s also a special of the day. I had fried pork, rice and sweet plantains with a bottle of water $9.50. Pork was tender and not greasy. Very good. Rice was soft and filled with little things like peas. Long line that moves quickly and lets you know it’s a popular place with good food. I counted over 25 in line while I was eating.
We stopped by because it was one of the only things open close by and had good reviews on Tripadvisor, and WOW, we were amazed by how delicious the food was. It's a combo service style, you can either choose from their front window hot plates, or from the screen menu. The mofongo a la criolla con camarones was phenomenal, best I'd ever had, and the arroz con habichuelas was also the best I've tried. I'm hoping to come here again and again. NOTE: They don't really have a sign outside, so you have to pull in to a place that looks like a car mechanic and go on by the side door. They close each day at 3pm, best for lunch.
This food was amazing. We drove here after our visit to Cueva Ventana based on trip advisor reviews. It was a 20 min drive and it was worth it. I had THE BEST chicken breast breaded with plantains. It was out of this world!!! The rice, breaded chicken and carne grits were great too. Great place if you’re looking to try local food.
