The chicken at this restaurant is not as smoked as the name suggests. The spices are mild and lack the smoky or spicy flavor one would expect. The prices are reasonable for the portion sizes. The restaurant is clean, but the dim lighting resembling a nightclub makes it difficult to see your food. Despite being a sit-down restaurant, the rushed service makes it feel more like fast food. Not recommended for those looking for authentic, spicy Portuguese chicken.
This was my first time at La Poule Fumée and I found it to be just average. I ordered the cod, which was very bony and the sauce was just okay. I now understand that the specialty here is chicken, but since I didn't try it, I can't give an opinion. My friends have told me that it's pretty good, so I'll trust their judgement. Personally, I plan to try other restaurants before returning to this one.
The site is nice very modern with nice chicken in cages in the entrance. The restaurant is full of nice pictures from Portugal, modern style restaurant with non expensive wine. The food is really tasty the plate is plenyfull...The house sauce is a litlle spicy ...but very good for specialists... All in all i'll go back !!!!
We were at La Poule Fumee in the begiining of May for our first time and we really liked this restaurant. Very good service by waiter and the meal was very tasty. I think that the poutine La Poule Fumee was Awesome, since I shared with my wife. I had the poulet portugais with the piri piri sauce and it was delectable. Really enjoyed our meal and had it accompanied with a Bock Portuguese beer.
