Nice bed and good shower. In the garden you can enjoy a drink and of course enjoy an excellent and varied dinner. Due to a lack of staff, there was no breakfast, no problem, there is always coffee in the room! Recommended! Rooms: Beautiful rooms, equipped with all amenities. Wonderful bed and nice bathroom. Food drinks: Good restaurant and great pub. In the garden next door you can enjoy a drink and ultimately dinner. Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 4 Hotel highlights: Quiet, Great value
The restaurant was very good. The staff were very welcoming and went up and beyond what was expected. Definitely will be going there again. Thank you. Service: 5 Location: 5
Well folks, I turned out of Salisbury to find myself in Porton. The Old Railway hotel is under new ownership. I've just eaten the most delicious, lightest vegetable curry/soup. With Fluffy onion bargee. Hubby had light flavourful birhiani. We polished the lot off. I'm wheat intolerant and the chef made sure I had the right food. Can't rate this place highly enough. All you have to do is walk through the door. It's worth it. Service: 5 Location: 4 Hotel highlights: Quiet, Great value
Location was a bit very nice and out of the way. The building seems to be historic and seems quite cozy, which is also noticeable in the restaurant/pub area. Staff very friendly and accommodating. However: there was no breakfast on site, the recommended breakfast restaurant was about a 10-minute drive away. Lt. Information from the reception was that the restaurant operator in the hotel was currently changing, and then breakfast would also be offered. The double bed in the room was quite short and narrow for my 187cm height. The duvet was intended for a stay in Antarctica but not for September with 28 degrees. It was difficult to ventilate the room because of the old, single-glass windows that were extremely difficult to open. The restaurant staff then puffed below our window, which was directly above the kitchen. It is relatively noisy in the evenings because the noise from conversations or television watching rugby from the pub below is reflected up the stairs and the whole building is also poorly insulated. Dinner in the attached restaurant was la-la. Everything is quite simply equipped, there is no refrigerator, hairdryer or air conditioning, but I knew that in advance. The (apparently common) taps at the sink, one of which supplies hot water and the other cold water, are also very annoying. So you can choose between scalding or heartbeat... Conclusion: Romantic stay for more robust people Rooms: 3 Service: 3 Location: 4 Hotel highlights: Romantic, Quiet
Really nice room for the money we paid. Slightly noisy as it is located next to a road. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Free WiFi and good connection to. Food drinks: The food served downstairs is amazing quality and taste. The steak was perfectly cooked and melted in the mouth. The chips were triple cooked and very fluffy. The gammon was salty but not too salty. The egg on the gammon was runny and had no gooey bits. Very good price and so are the drinks. Extremely friendly staff that aren't over attentive. Definitely worth eating at. Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 4 Hotel highlights: Great value
