Contribuir a la retroalimentaciónThis was a short walk from our hotel, with a few outdoor tables with umbrellas for a pet friendly establishment. The interior was a 50s theme. The menu also had mostly sandwiches, soup, burgers and milkshakes. We ordered a BLT w/avocado and fish and chips. Out BLT was great. The fish gets a C- but the fries were very nice, crispy on the outside tender inside. I peeked at another order and saw a sandwich just as thick and delicious looking as ours. The counter lady was friendly and helpful. We recommend this for lunch or a quick dinner. They also serve breakfast. They allow free refills of soda fountain drinks.
I've tried this place a few times, hoping the next one will be good enough. Naw. The service was friendly which was why we got a few stars then I subtracted some cause the food was meh. I already knew I haven't had much luck with the burgers (overcooked or bland or such) so went with the hot link this time. I liked that! It was served with some diced tomato and onion. Saw the hype about the world's best shake so snagged one of those too. It was ok! The usual huge portion of that so if you like shakes, they got ya covered there! They also have a full bar now with a special on shots till end of December. I really hope the place figures out their niche cause having a fun retro diner downtown is neat! But we have other retro looking diners downtown so competition!
A 1950s style eatery with previously decent food, but in our recent experience, the service was terrible and the food just eh . Last Thursday evening, around 5:30 pm, my wife and I ate here for dinner before a play at the nearby performing arts center. We have eaten here before for basic food with quick service. That was not to be on this visit. FIrst, there was only one person working there. He was taking orders and preparing food, one order at a time. It was a very slow process. We were the first in line after he took the order of the family in front of us. We waited 20 minutes before he took our order! The line had grown all the way to the door with many people waiting. If it wasn 't for the fact that it was over one hundred degrees F) outside and the two adjacent restaurants were full, we would have left for somewhere else). When he took our order, the restaurant was out of many things, so the selection was more limited. In fact for the family in front of us, after they placed their order and were seated, the employee came over to them and told them that something they ordered was no longer available; he then refunded their money for that item. We ordered two Silly Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches $9.95 each) and one order of large onion rings $4.99) and a drink from the self service soda dispenser $2.85) since my wife saw that they had iced tea. While he was ringing up the order, my wife tried to get her tea from the machine and it was out. He then refunded that price for the soda. The so-called cheese steak was nothing more than a few slices of beef, with a small amount of sauteed mushrooms and onions, and then a piece of cheese melted over it and then inside bread. It was nothing like a real cheese steak; perhaps that is why it is called silly . A real cheese steak, has everything nicely chopped up and mixed together and has a much better taste. On the plus side, the onion rings were good. Later, another employee arrived and the very slow line moved faster since now there was someone to take orders and another person to cook the food. It might have been a bad day, as this was not the sort of service and food quality that we experienced on previous visits. Or, as several recent reviews have noted, the place may be going downhill.
You order chorizo and eggs, which in the description says served with hash browns and toast. Eggs served any style. All I get was chorizo, eggs and tortilla wrap. I asked the person at the front if they could actually give me toast and they said, no it 's served with tortilla . No apology for the replacement. No explanation. Just didn 't want to actually give me what 's on the menu description. And the worst part is, if you look at the kitchen in the back, you can clearly see buns/bread in their wrap. The quality and service is just flat out lazy. It 's a shame. I enjoyed my time here several years ago. I 'll never come back here again.
We stopped here before an event at the Civic Auditorium because I wanted to find something tasty and fast. I 'm sort of a sucker for the classic American diner experience, so I figured I 'd get a burger, fries, and a shake. I feel like I should get to the centerpiece here, which was the burger. It was bad. Real bad. Like the bottom shelf frozen patty you 'd buy in bulk from a grocery store. The fries were ok, but nothing to write home about. The shake was ok, but over-syrup-ed vanilla to get to chocolate. My girlfriend got onion rings; probably the best thing we had, but about Denny 's level quality. The staff were nice, but curtly informed me that none of the alcoholic drinks were available (why??? , and then we waited half an hour for the burger to arrive, despite the restaurant being largely empty. This is what I told my girlfriend after were done: This is the worst restaurant I 've recommend to anyone in a decade. I feel like I failed you. How could a diner go so wrong with a burger?
