Mikado Sushi Japanese - Santa Maria

Great value for money. They have an amazing sushi special where if you spend at least $20 on rolls you get half off. Sushi was delicious. Super fresh and came out quickly. Bento box was ok comparatively, which is why my overall rating for food is 4 stars. Also got the sake bomb special which was a tall Sapporo and small sale for $9.99.

Decided to shake things up for a late lunch. The food was on point and any issues I had with it were due to my mistakes when placing my order (IE: knowing the roll had avocado and forgetting to ask them to remove it). I still ate it It was delicious We were sat within 2 minutes and had our drinks order placed in the next 5. The only downside with the service is that I needed to flag staff down for a refill, for boxes, and to pick up the check. It seemed like we were forgotten about after everything was brought to the table. If you are sensitive to sunlight, might I suggest asking for a table that isn't along the front windows. The south side or center of the dining room would have been perfect. This place is now on my list of go-to places for sushi, though I will probably sit at the bar.

The food was decent. I was not impressed in any way but it was not bad either. Service was better than the food. The whole place needs a good renovation in my opinion, it smells and looks old and run down. Not impressed, but I wouldn’t run away from it either. A totally average place, hence the totally average rating

I’ve been craving good sushi for the past couple months and I tried Mikado before and it was eh. I got it yesterday and it was SO GOOD. I ordered 4 rolls and ranked best to good (none of them were bad): Play Boy Roll, Ocean Tiger Roll, Santa Maria Roll, Fried Spicy Philadelphia. I also like their gyoza and miso soup. I liked the combination yakisoba but you just don’t get enough for the price. I did not like the Ocean 11 roll, jalapeño shrimp, monkey ball, sesame chicken, beef terryaki, or the Oh Boy roll.

We've been here for 7 years and it's still my favorite sushi spot! chris is the best! He always took care of us and treats us like family! the chefs are always happy and we are super grateful that we have this place! many thanks!
