The food and service at this restaurant were excellent. However, I did not give it a 5-star rating because if the kitchen is going to be visible to the public, extra care should be taken to ensure it is clean. The stainless steel fryer and wall-mounted unit looked dirty with burnt-on oil and grease. If obvious things like that are not clean, it makes me wonder what else may be dirty as well.
The Skillet restaurant was a bit disappointing. It was average in all aspects, including the food. We ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich, but the batter was too thick and we couldn't taste the chicken. The Nashville hot sauce was unevenly distributed, and the long-cut pickles were difficult to eat. The buns were slightly soggy, but not a major issue. The fries were standard diner fries with average seasoning. The service was decent, and we were promptly served despite there being only one server on duty. The atmosphere was typical of a diner, with neon signs and TVs showing sports channels. The restaurant was family-friendly with seating options for different party sizes. Overall, I would not recommend this place for their hot chicken dish.
Nice Buger. Be carefull of you order your your french fries with garlic sos , it is smashed fresh garlic, I liked it and thankfully i did not have any meeting with anybody after that...
Great tomato bisque and grilled cheese! As a bonus, it's a baby friendly spot in Capitol Hill, with a changing table in the restroom.
