Unfortunately, this was one of the worst culinary experiences I had when visiting Sedona. It should be a nice night for my friend and I, but it was a total bust. The trip was nice, almost towards Flagstaff, and we arrived a few minutes before our reservation. The hostess checked us, we sat with water and then nothing. The waitress held on the table behind us for drinks orders, held on the table next to us to go over dessert or a box, brought #1 their drinks, brought #2 a box, took the food order for #1 and then #2 never brought their check on our way, or gave an I'll be right way, give me a second nothing. And I worked at the service. And the tables were not filled. How are you not coming by and say hello? Or if you see someone hasn't come closer, why didn't the hostess/waters come down for a drink order? We've been studying the menu for a while and then I said I'm going to the toilet room. If no one checked for us or picked up an order when I come back, we'll go. What do you know? I came back and STILL hadn't come by. The friend saw the two waiters talking on a drink stand, but nobody thought this table was sitting on TWENTY MINUTES. Maybe someone should order a drink. So we went back and went back to the Uptown area. We landed in Elote Cafe [which is usually only reservation] but after a waiting period of approx. 20 minutes they could put us a little after 8:30. During the wait we ordered a drink from the bar. The first thing the bartender says, give me a second, I'll be right with you. WO What a concept, someone recognizes a presence and then come back as you can. That's all it needs. The best part, the food was fantastic, large portion sizes and even better for lunch the next day. Save headaches and book at Elote Cafe.
Truly unusual and delicious meal. Fresh and creative!
The menu was extremely limited with only 4 main dinners to choose from. I had the Sedona trout which was not filleted and rather dry. I had a hard time eating around all the bones and skin. My husband had the venison which wasn’t too bad. The “small plates” which are appetizers are pricey for what you get. I don’t think we will be going back there , but the drive out there was very nice.
The food was very good but the presentation was not. The service was poor. Only two people to wait on you, take orders, tend bar and they made a mistake on our bill charging us for two glasses of wine each when we each only had one. Prices were very high.
