Contribuir a la retroalimentaciónExcellent in every way! Main courses were enjoyed by all three of us today and the Mango Mousse for desert was so fresh and extra delicious! Thank you Chef and all your brilliant staff.
Scalloway is lovely itself. Da Haaf serves marvellous fish dishes. It is in the University of the Highlands and Islands building- resembles a canteen! But not canteen food! Fabulous and fresh.Always book! It is always full!
A small restaurant located in a college in Scalloway. We had strong recommendations. But items on the menu were quite expensive. I had a fish tagine which was really not at all like an authentic tagine. I was quite disappointed. The Scalloway Hotel along the road was much better value and had good food at a rerasonable price.
Interesting but not over complicated menu very well executed. Wonderful quality fish used and cooked well. Meat and vegetarian options. Not posh but comfortable surroundings. Good service.
This restaurant is situated in the main building of the University of the Highlands and Islands at Scalloway.. and the prospect of having a meal in what I thought was a college cafe did not really excite me . I remembered my own University days and the scotch pies, spam fritters and fish finger sandwiches were the standard fare of the refectory. My Shetlander friends assured me that Da Haaf was different and indeed it was . The restaurant is plain but spacious and comfortable with beautiful views over the loch to the hills beyond. It is also well used, more by locals than students and booking a table is necessary (on Fridays at least). The food though is superb and of top restaurant standard . Starting with the Cullen Skink which is Da Haaf's signature dish and which quite simply delicious. Cullen Skink has become very popular across Scotland. For the uninitiated it is a creamy thick fish soup with potatoes and smoked haddock. That being said few restaurants come any where getting the textures and flavours as good as in Da Haaf. The smoked fish macaroni cheese was equally delicious with nicely cooked macaroni in a smooth cheesy sauce infused with smoked haddock. One of our friends had the fish and chips and said the fish was so remarkably fresh. Perhaps the fact that Shetland has such an abundance of fresh sea food much of which is landed in Scalloway explains the excellent sea food dishes . The cheesecake was again tremendous and I finished off with a lovely little espresso. Apart from the food, the service was excellent, atmosphere was calm, the views were breathtaking and the cost was very reasonable: lunch for 6 with soft drinks and coffee came to £85 We have booked to visit Da Haaf again which is testimony to how impressed we were.
