The pleasure of eating at Kashiwa for the first time will stay with me forever. The bar for fresh sushi fish standards is measured here and a couple other spots in OC. Brought friends and family, and recommended it since. Love the fried oysters then omakase with a good sake from the sake menu, not the sake from the menu. Greatful Kashiwa is a mile away and remains open for excellent takeout. Check their website for the hours and menu then call your order in. Will continue to enjoy Kashiwa regularly.
Kashiwa keeps being my favorite restaurant for sushi and other Japanese food in SoCal. Despite having to take the food to go, it is so well crafted with the finest ingredients that eating it at home (or at a picnic in the park) remains a top notch experience.
Well packaged, good quality sushi for those looking to take their takeout to the next level. Omakaase was a fun variety that surprised me with some cuts that I don't usually think twice about standing proud. Still, the classics will be the heart of the meal, as you will get high quality uni and maguro. We will be back and we will bring friends.
After living in Sawtelle Japantown for several years, it 's been hard to find good quality sushi in Long Beach that could compare. I finally searched the archives of Long Beach Food Scene on Facebook and found so many posts about Kashiwa. We tried it last night and it did not disappoint. We got the omakase and a tekka maki for the kids. The fish was such high quality, practically melting in your mouth and rich in color. The preparation was gorgeous and every piece beamed with flavor. The rice was wonderful, even as carry out. The sunamono with cucumber and octopus was so delicious. After living in Long Beach for 3 years, which we thought was a sushi wasteland, I am so excited to have finally found Kashiwa!!! My dad who is Japanese and a sushi enthusiast agreed at the quality of the omakase. This place is for people who appreciate quality and taste.
