Our Plaice - South Lakeland

We visited Coniston recently and spotted Our Plaice on the way back from a day out. The queue was out the door, but the wait was worth it. Everything is cooked fresh as you go in. Honestly the best steak pie I’ve ever had, even compared to sit in restaurants.

Alright for chips but the portions aren’t that big and the fish was very average . The worst chip shop batter I have ever had, thick and not crispy. Bang average. If you think here is good then you haven’t had proper fish and chips on the north east coast. Only thing in its favour is that it is only £7.50 for fish and chips. But I would rather pay more for better

When we were here, August 2022, only take-away was available. The line was about 15 people deep, so I figured the food had to be good. We were staying at The Sun and they offered no meals except breakfast (for overnight guests). After driving from Broadway all day in the rain, we needed food fast! The line took a bit, but the couple working were working very fast! I sent my husband and the kids to the playground down the street and waited. WOW! Everything was so delicious! We got a few fish and chips, sausage, a cheese burger, chicken nuggets, just a variety of everything and we had a wonderful meal! Very well priced! I was extremely pleased!

Excellent quality, service and value for money. Food is cooked to order and very much well worth the short wait. Staff very friendly.
