I should have picked the creme brûlée which is always delicious. I was treating someone for a special birthday so it wasn’t nice that the waiting staff felt the need to openly discuss the price of each main which I felt was unnecessary and made my friend feel uncomfortable.
Delicious lunch I opted for Fish of the day (Sea Bass) perfectly cooked with Samphire and Capers, followed by creme brulee, I think the best Creme Brulee in England. Well worth a visit.
We recently returned to this restaurant for lunch and were pleasantly surprised. The interior decor has been upgraded nicely since lockdown, and the dog-friendly Agricultural Bar also looks great. We ordered the Posh Fish Finger sandwich and drinks, and the dressing on the salad was superb. The overall taste and quality were really good. The staff were friendly and helpful as well. We will definitely be returning to this restaurant again.
Last minute decision to dine out led us to book a table at the Boars. I had never been before, but my partner had visited a couple of times in the past. We started with crab croquettes, which were decent. My partner found her lamb burger to be a bit dry and lacking in creativity, while I enjoyed the crab linguine. For dessert, I had a lemon syrup sponge with ginger ice cream and my partner opted for crème brûlée, both of which we found delicious. The service was friendly and efficient, although we regretted sitting outside as the wasps were attracted to my cider. The restaurant was surprisingly busy for a Wednesday, creating a nice atmosphere on a lovely summer evening. I personally enjoyed my meal, but my partner was less satisfied with her main. Overall, I would give it a 4/5 and she would rate it 3/5.
A bit of a mixed review. We visited Friday evening. We sat out in the beautiful beer garden and one of the waitresses came to take our drinks order. We asked only about Alcohol free options and chose a few AF beers. We're brought out 2 pints of Peroni and could tell they were alcoholic. That could have been quite a disaster for someone who can't drink! 2 correct beers then brought out. We then were waiting ages for someone to take our food order (it wasn't busy otherwise would have understood this) in the end had to go in and found most of the waiting staff stood around chatting to request our orders taken. Food was good, request to have some as takeaway was happily dealt with. Just looks like staff maybe need a little bit more training in being attentive to customers and on the ball when service is on. We will come back again another day as a nice setting on sunny days in the garden.
