If you are dining alone, you may feel neglected. This is the third time I have experienced poor service at this establishment, which is disappointing considering it is otherwise a charming place.
First, waiting time, 45min, service terrible, staff very rude, prices have gone up, small portions, £12 50 fore lamb, small lamb, £8 50, it got to the stage i can count the peas, 2 lamb chops the size of a 50 pence piece, no roast potatoes, i think it been taken by a new manager,.... the menu has complety change, for the worst, all the prices have gone up, not happy, not comeing back.
Read some negative reviews and understand the comments and frustration. I have been twice for Sunday lunch in October. Plenty of veg. and a very good selection for four people. Good sized portions. Good gravy. Excellent crackling if you 're among the first, early diners and request it. Could have been hotter but as folks have commented, the staff are few and do the best they can. I 'm very happy with the place because it 's a nice airy environment and apart from one waitress 'don 't touch the cakes ' who I thought was slightly bonkers when I realised that she wasn 't joking, the staff are lovely. They haven 't come from Michelin restaurants and this is Somerset ..... and a farm. Sunday lunch, remembering that you are in a Farm Shop cafe and not a restaurant and if you are with friends or family and have things to talk about, the/a wait is worth it every time. But then, I 'm retired having been served by my own chefs for fifteen years so it 's a pleasant change. Now to breakfast. We waited. We were with friends, relatives and we had things to catch up on so by the time our breakfast arrived we were hungrier and full of good tea, ready to tuck in. Excellent. Everything on our plates four big breakfasts was so flavourful and obviously just (freshly) cooked. That 's one reason for the wait and for us it 's worth it. Life is slower and so much more enjoyable for it. As Arnold said, I 'll be back. NB can 't comment on lunches in the week as we only do Sunday lunches and breakfasts.
I highly recommend dining at this restaurant. The service was great and, although we had to wait a few minutes for our food to arrive, it was definitely worth it. The dishes were served piping hot on hot plates and everything was cooked to perfection. We will definitely return. The meat from the butcher is also outstanding and the faggots were the best we've ever had!
This charming little find was recommended to me for lunch and shopping. The restaurant is fantastic, with a wide selection of dishes made from local produce. I ordered a large breakfast with farm-fresh ingredients, while my wife enjoyed a delicious gammon ham sandwich. The coffee was excellent, the prices were reasonable, and the specials menu had a fantastic variety. We will definitely be returning.
