They did not knock first before opening the door and getting stuck on the latch lock. The front desk didn't seem to care and blamed it on most likely being the housekeeping with the wrong room number by mistake. This is a huge safety concern and privacy issue. It was only 830am, on our first and only night at the hotel so it isn't like there was a necessary security check needed.Safety: Someone tried getting into our room without knocking first. Front desk staff didn't really seem to care and said it was present house keeping with the wrong room by mistake.
This hotel was great. The only issue I had was they didn't use a fitted sheet and only used 2 flat sheets one over the mattress with hospital corners the other as a top sheet, so I was waking up in the middle of the night adjusting the sheet to cover the foot of the bed. It was in close walking distance from the Arch and I did walk across the street to walk the park and walk around the Arch. The room was clean and comfortable with a nice view of the water and bridge. The staff was pleasant at the counter the store and the Brewhouse. I was there on business and traveling alone. And I felt comfortable doing so at this location.
My wife and I were passing through on a major road trip, so we wanted the Arch area to be our focus. This hotel is steps away from the Arch, and the surrounding waterfront. Parking was easy, the hotel has a few nice places to eat, and the overall experience was pleasant.Rooms: 5/5
They accommodated our wishes, especially, giving us our rooms connected with our children; it says a lot when we’ve traveled quite frequently and didn’t getting our simple request fulfilled. The building is a bit old but updated, rooms were nice and clean. They had plugs and outlets easily accessible for charging our portables, totally thankful (didn’t have to take out our portable outlet). The only downside was that we had some black substance on our sink by the bathroom, looked like ashes. No biggie, we cleaned it but worth noting; hopefully they will inspect certain rooms that they haven’t occupied for awhile. ?
Upon entering the Hyatt Regency at the Arch in St. Louis, MO, I felt like I was stepping into old money New York. Lovely lobby, friendly staff, and great bellboys. The floors looked recently polished and the elevators were clean. Hallways heading to rooms were well kept as well. Rooms were neat and tidy with the exception of dated bathrooms and fixtures. Now, I know renovating bathrooms is much easier said than done and nothing in the bathroom posed a safety issue. I will have to dock a star from my review due to the peeling finish in the tub, the burned? phone port, and the rusty mirror. Another thing I’d like to add is the exorbitant pet fee. We were traveling with a miniature poodle and were charged an $100 pet fee. Many Hyatt’s don’t have a pet fee north of $75 with most hotels in general under $50. Not sure what was going on there…. Housekeeping must have had negative pet experiences in the past. Other than that, the stay was fantastic. Just steps away from the famous arch, this is not a hotel to miss!Nearby activities: The arch park is quite literally right across the street!
