From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted by a warm and inviting ambiance, reminiscent of a classic, upscale steakhouse. The rustic decor, dim lighting, and a hint of nostalgia in the air set the perfect tone for a special dining experience. The service was impeccable, and our server was not only knowledgeable but also genuinely passionate about the menu. We started our evening with their signature cocktails, which wereexpertly crafted and a delightful way to kick off the night. The menu offers a diverse range of options, but we couldn't resist trying their prime rib. The quality of the meat was outstanding, and it was cooked to perfection. What truly stood out for me, though, was their commitment to sourcing local and seasonal ingredients. It's evident in the freshness of the dishes and the creative flavors that they infuse into every plate. The Sage Room is not just a restaurant; it's an experience that's meant to be savored. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for an exceptional dining experience in Lake Tahoe, this place should be at the top of your list. It's a culinary journey that combines tradition with innovation, and it left us with memories we'll cherish for a long time.
Went for friend's 40th bday. they sat us at a table in the bar area, not in the main dining room. the lighting was terrible. it was like a fluorescent light, very dim too. they didnt have candles to help soften the harsh lighting. cocktails were great, my lobster bisque was tasty too. unfortunate, the $80 steak is something that should only cost $35. just not very flavorful. the sides of asparagus and cauliflower were just plain steamed veggies for $16 each. no seasoning nor char, etc. very disappointing experience.
Very disappointing, had a reservation for my friends 40th and put us at a dark table. Asked for more lighting and they said this is all we can do. For $80 steaks got just bland asparagus boiled as a side. Assistant manager didn't care at all and wouldn't get the manager Troy. As a diamond member and the lack of service very disappointing. For the high prices and bad management I would not recommend.
After a long day at Yosemite, and a long drive, we looked forward to steaks at The Sage Room. On first impression, it looks luxurious. With more observation, you start to notice things, like the pile of dust on the window sills (great views though! , you notice that a used Kleenex sat on the floor near you for the duration of your dinner...The bone-in Porter House Steak was a vast disappointment, especially at $84.95, sides extra. Usually, I ask the the steak be prepared as the Chef prefers. In this case, Chef must like steaks unseasoned, over cooked and dry. The assorted sauteed mushrooms didn't save it. The same technique was applied to a Fillet Mignon, it looked lonely on the plate. The baked potato was served separately, in case it marred the fillet's presentation. The fillet was returned to the kitchen, and replaced with Steak Diane, which was a production, as it is prepared table side. The wedge salad with bleu cheese dressing and lardons was the night's winner, despite the chewiness of the lardons. Our server was friendly and semi-efficient. There were two of us, but the server left 3 place settings and four napkins, crowding the small table further once appetizers and drinks were served. I do belive that we were comped the Steak Diane, but that didn't make up for the underwhelming experience.
This place was amazing. We were visiting lake tahoe and stayed at Harveys and came here for my birthday dinner. It was so yummy. Everything was fresh and tasted super fresh. We will def come back when we visit again. They have nice window seating with a view too. Banana dessert was def amazing along with our steaks.
